LEXINGTON, Ky. -- UK sophomore center Jon Toth (pictured) is one of 66 centers nationally to be named to the Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List, which honors centers who have excelled at the position, demonstrated team leadership and are predicted to do so again this fall, according to a press release sent out by the Rimington Trophy on Tuesday morning. The Rimington Trophy has honored the best collegiate center in the nation for the last 15 seasons.

Toth, who is one of five sophomores on the list, became the full-time starter at center in UK’s second game of the season in 2013, finishing with 11 starts in 12 games played. His play at center in 2013 helped three different UK players rush for 400-plus yards, the first time UK has accomplished that feat since 1986. For his efforts, Toth was named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team by league coaches. Toth also was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2013.

A total of 66 centers were named to the 2014 fall watch list with the SEC and Big Ten lead the way with 11 and 10 centers, respectively. While more than a dozen All-America teams are selected annually, the Rimington Trophy committee uses the Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America teams to determine a winner. The winner will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015.

Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.5 million for the cystic fibrosis community. The fifteen-year-old award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $100 million for CF Research.

Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
