UK's Tonie Morgan Named to Point Guard of the Year Midseason Watch List

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tonie Morgan has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Top 10 Midseason List, it was announced by the Naismith Hall of Fame on Monday.

The point guard, who has started and played all 23 games this season, is averaging 14.7 points per game, 8.57 assists per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 1.17 steals per game.

No other player in the nation is averaging as many points and assists per game.

Morgan is first in the nation in assists (197) and second in assists per game (8.6). Morgan also is 10th in the nation in assist-turnover ratio (2.7).

The senior needs 16 more assists to tie the single-season school record for assists, which All-American Georgia Amoore set last season through 31 games (213). She has logged eight games with at least 10 assists this season. That is the most games with at least 10 assists in a single season by a Southeastern Conference player since Texas A&M’s Curtyce Knox in 2016-17 (15).

Morgan has 665 career assists, which is ranked third among all active players in all divisions, while the two players ahead of her are in their fifth years. Her 5.6 career assists per game are fifth among all active players in all divisions.

While Morgan spent the first handful of games directing the offense and looking for others’ shots first this season, she has since eased into a dynamic scoring threat.

Over the last 17 games (since at No. 21/19 Louisville), she is averaging a team-lead 16.5 points per game on 50.8 percent shooting from the field and 48.4 percent from the arc (15-of-31).

Through just the SEC schedule (nine games) as of Feb. 2, she is averaging a team-lead 17.3 ppg, which is eighth in the league.

Overall in 2025-26, she has led the team in scoring on a team-lead nine occasions, including five 20+ point games.
