LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky baseball outfielder Jackson Gray has been named Second-Team Division I Academic All-America, the College Sports Communicators announced Wednesday.
Gray, a graduate student from Wheaton, Illinois, was honored for excelling in the classroom as well as providing significant contributions on the field. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
Gray, UK’s starting centerfielder and leadoff hitter, is having an All-American season on the field while posting a perfect 4.0 in the classroom as well. He is a Master of Science – Finance major.
On the field, Gray lead the Wildcats in batting, runs, hits, triples, on-base percentage and has been hit by 25 pitches, the second-highest single-season total in UK history.
On Monday, UK advanced to the Super Regional and will open its series at LSU on Saturday afternoon.
