The Lady Jackets from Middlesboro High School captured the 52nd District Tournament championship for the first time in six years Wednesday night when they stopped Harlan County 14-4 in softball action held at Harlan.
The Lady Black Bears from Harlan County had won the district tourney four straight times.
Middlesboro improved its overall mark to 15-19, while Harlan County dropped to 13-9.
Both teams will move on and play in the 13th Region tournament at Harlan County High this weekend.
