ANOTHER UPDATE: The Middlesboro-Corbin baseball showdown for the 13th Region tournament title will now take place on Saturday, May 28 at 5:00 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets from Middlesboro High School advanced to the 13th Region baseball tournament championship game with a 7-3 comeback victory over Whitley County Wednesday evening at host South Laurel. The Jackets, led by senior Tyler Harris who pitched a complete game, fell behind 3-0 in the first inning before bouncing back with a 7-run fourth inning.
Middlesboro, which dropped to Whitley County in 13th Region finals last season, is scheduled to face Corbin Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at South Laurel. Middlesboro is 19-10, while Corbin is 25-12.
The 13th Region winner will play against the 5th Region champion on Friday, June 3 at UK's Kentucky Proud Park in Lexington, beginning at 10 a.m.
