Coach John Smith's Middlesboro High School baseball team edged the Harlan County Black Bears with an 11-10 victory Tuesday night before a nice crowd at Harlan County High.
With the thrilling win, the Yellow Jackets captured their fifth consecutive 52nd District Tournament championship. MHS improved its overall mark to 15-14, while Harlan County dropped to 12-20.
Both clubs will advance to the 13th Region tournament, which begins on Saturday at Jackson County High in McKee. At this writing, the regional tourney pairings have not been announced.
