LEXINGTON -- Last season, Maddyn Greenway became the state of Minnesota’s all-time leading scorer with 5,621 career points while setting the state record with 1,186 assists. She also captured 13 state titles across three sports: track and field, soccer, and basketball.
During her senior season at Providence Academy, the 5-foot-8 guard averaged 36.5 points per game and ranked first in the nation in free throws, earning a national ranking of No. 13 in the Class of 2026, according to ESPN. In addition, she was named a McDonald's All-American.
Coming from Providence Academy in Minnesota, where she played since seventh grade, Greenway built an extremely impressive resume that earned her the title of MaxPreps 2026 Female Athlete of the Year, proving she is no stranger to success.
Now, Greenway is taking her talents as a freshman to the University of Kentucky, where expectations are running high.

Asked how she plans to continue her success, Greenway stated, “Trying to take those accomplishments [and bring them] into the college level has been huge. To continue my competitiveness, I think I'll earn that by trying to be great in every aspect of my life in every sport and bring it to this level.”
Greenway seems to be transitioning into Big Blue Nation smoothly, describing her teammates as “a great group of girls to learn from.” She emphasized how well she has been fitting into the team as a freshman.
While she admitted there are always nerves when arriving as a newcomer, Greenway showed enthusiasm, saying, "Everyone's been a freshman at some point, and the good part about being a freshman is you just keep getting older and get more experience.”
UK women's coach Kenny Brooks discussed Greenway and the importance of her desire to continue improving.
"She understands that we are a potential Top 15 team, and that she’s just got to make sure that she fits in and does what she has to do to get better," Brooks said.
With the determination that helped make her one of Minnesota’s greatest high school athletes, she and Big Blue Nation have plenty of reason to be excited about her upcoming season with the Kentucky Wildcats.
UK opens the regular season on Monday, Nov. 2 (6:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network Plus) when the Wildcats host Morehead State at Historic Memorial Coliseum.
