The Middlesboro-Bell County Public Library is hosting a book signing for Kentucky sportswriter Jamie H. Vaught on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Vaught, who is also a longtime professor at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, has penned his sixth book on University of Kentucky basketball. The title of his new 408-page hardcover is Forever Crazy About the Cats: An Improbable Journey of a Kentucky Sportswriter Overcoming Adversity.
In addition to numerous UK stories and interviews, the book is part memoir about Vaught’s long, adventurous career of covering UK basketball and football, while overcoming personal adversity – a devastating hearing loss since birth.
The volume, which begins with a chapter on legendary broadcaster Cawood Ledford and ends with a chapter on legendary coach Joe B. Hall, also contains many stories about local UK standouts, including Dr. Vic Adams and Maci Morris.
Other book signings in Kentucky are being planned for February and March. The book is also available on Amazon.com.
