LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Playing without its two starters, Oscar Tshiebwe and Sahvir Wheeler, No. 4 Kentucky had no trouble with Howard as the Wildcats rolled over the Bison 95-63 in a season opener for both schools Monday night at Rupp Arena.

Leading UK in the scoring department were transfer senior guards Antonio Reeves, who gunned in 22 points, including 6 of 12 three-pointers, and CJ Fredrick with 20 points. It's Reeves' 22nd 20-point game of his career.
Reeves and Fredrick are the third pair of teammates to debut with at least 20 points, joining Reid Travis and Keldon Johnson in 2018, and Doron Lamb and Terrence Jones in 2010 as the others to do so.
Kentucky senior Jacob Toppin notched his first career double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Freshman Cason Wallace, playing at point guard, was also very impressive as he nearly posted a triple-double. He made 15 points along with eight rebounds and nine assists.
“It’s crazy. It’s his first college game, kid’s 19 years old, that’s not normal," said Fredrick of Wallace. "There are not many people in the country doing that, let alone as a freshman. He brings such a different dimension to our team. What he’s doing at his age and at his first college game is special.”
Reeves agreed Wallace is "a great player. He's well beyond his years."
Six-foot-11 freshman Ugonna Onyenso blocked four shots and hit three of four field goals for six points in 20 minutes of action.
Reeves also pointed out the team chemistry was a big factor in Kentucky's 32-point victory. The Wildcats led by as many as 38 points in the second half.
“Chemistry was definitely out there," he said. "We all moved the ball pretty well. [We] ran the floor
pretty well – rebounded and got a couple of assists through there. So, I think the whole team
had a great game today and we just have to move on to the next game.”
The Wildcats face Duquesne Friday at Rupp Arena. The matchup will be shown on the SEC Network at 7 p.m. ET.
