Kentucky senior Otega Oweh had another outstanding performance Saturday night at Auburn, scoring a career-high 29 points against the Tigers.
But his performance wasn't enough as former Lincoln Memorial University star Elyjah Freeman of Auburn hit a game-winning shot with 1.2 seconds remaining as UK dropped by a score of 75-74. Freeman was also recruited by UK.
The close matchup was tied 10 times. Kentucky's largest lead was nine points in the early second half.
As for Oweh, it was his 13th 20-point game of the season, all coming in the last 18 games.
UK guards Denzel Aberdeen and Collin Chandler added 15 and 10 points, respectively.
The Wildcats are now 17-10 overall and 8-6 in SEC.
Kentucky's next game is Tuesday night when the Cats visit South Carolina in Columbia. The 7 p.m. ET game will be shown on the SEC Network. The Gamecocks defeated Mississippi State 97-89 Saturday.
