RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team has added 6’7” junior college All-American Michael Wardy to the 2021-22 roster, it was announced on Thursday.
Wardy was named a 2020-21 second team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-American while playing for Southeast Community College in Nebraska. He averaged 14.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists-per-game while shooting 60.3 percent from the field for the Storm last season.
“Wardy is a big-time athlete who can finish above the rim and play in transition,” said EKU coach A.W. Hamilton. “His size and athleticism will fit in well in our system. He’s a first-class young man and will represent our program the right way.”
The native of Roca, Nebraska was a standout player at Norris High School, where was he voted to the 2018 Lincoln Journal Star all-state second team.
Wardy is EKU’s sixth signee of the offseason. He joins Marshall transfers Iran Bennett (6’9” forward) and Jannson Williams (6’9” forward), Wichita State transfer Trevin Wade (5’11” guard), N.C. State transfer Braxton Beverly (6’0” guard) and incoming freshman Dashawn Jackson (6’3” guard) on EKU’s 2021-22 roster.
