EKU's Blanton Chosen ASUN Player of the Week

ATLANTA -- Eastern Kentucky University’s Devontae Blanton was chosen as the ASUN Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today from its Atlanta headquarters.

Blanton averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists while leading EKU to wins over Jacksonville State and first place Kennesaw State last week. The 6-foot-6 junior wing from Macedonia, Ohio shot 50 percent from the field (16-for-32) and 91 percent from the free throw line (10-for-11).
In the Colonels' 77-74 victory over Kennesaw State, Blanton finished with 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and no turnovers. He had 21 points, four rebounds and three assists against JSU.
Over his last five games, Blanton is shooting 53 percent from the field and averaging 19 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He has scored 20 or more in three straight and four of the last five. Blanton is fifth in the ASUN in scoring (16.16 ppg), third in field goal percentage (46.8 percent) and ninth in rebounding (6.52 rpg).
The Colonels (16-9, 9-3 ASUN), who sit in third place in the conference and just one game behind first place Liberty and Kennesaw State, will play at sixth place Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday before wrapping up the road trip at Liberty on Saturday.
