RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University’s men’s basketball team moved up three spots to No. 17 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid Major Top 25, the organization announced on Monday.
EKU was ranked 20th in the preseason poll and then started the season with two wins by an average margin of 47 points.
The Colonels totaled 203 points in the latest edition, 51 points behind No. 16 South Dakota State and 22 points more than No. 18 Princeton. Gonzaga (1-0) received 29 of 31 first place votes and remains No. 1 in the poll. Akron (2-0) is No. 2, James Madison (3-0) is third, Liberty (2-0) is fourth and Drake (1-0) rounds out the top five teams.
EKU is the only Atlantic Sun Conference team ranked in the top 25.
Through the first two games of the season, the Colonels lead the country in scoring offense (120.5 ppg), scoring margin (47 ppg), fastbreak points (40.5 ppg) and assists (30.5 apg). EKU is third in rebounding (54.5 rpg) and blocks (8.5 bpg).
