Veteran football coach Larry French officially has been named the head coach at Middlesboro High School. He was introduced at a press conference held at the high school cafeteria before a large crowd on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 10.
French -- who is one of the all-time winningest high school football coaches in Kentucky history, ranking among the Top 10 with over 300 victories -- comes to Middlesboro with impressive credentials after five years at Class 5A Southwestern High in Somerset. His Southwestern teams compiled an overall 47-17 mark. French also has coached at Mercer County, Meade County, Lincoln County and Boyle County, winning two state championships in Class 4A while at Boyle.
French and his Yellow Jackets will open their 2019 season on Friday night, August 23 when they travel to meet Garrard County.
