Harlan County High School, which was led by Miss Kentucky Basketball candidate and future Kentucky Wildcat Blair Green's game-high 32 points, defeated North Laurel 78-51 in 13th Region girls championship game Saturday night, March 3 in Corbin.
In addition to Green, the Lady Bears also had double-digit scorers in Katelyn Johnson and Lainey Cox with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Cox also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Madison Sheppard led North Laurel with 16 points.
The Lady Bears advance to the 2018 St. Elizabeth Healthcare/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen® Basketball Tournament where they will face 10th Region champion Clark County on Wednesday, March 7 at 8 p.m. at 10,000-seat BB&T Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky University.
In last week's Dave Cantrall's Top 25 poll, appearing in the Lexington Herald-Leader, Clark County (George Rogers Clark) was rated No. 14 overall at 82.3 points. Harlan County was 17th overall with 81.2 points.
