BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University junior forward Nick Mayo (pictured) has been voted first team All-Ohio Valley Conference for the third consecutive season, the league office announced on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Mayo is the first Colonel ever to receive first team All-OVC honors three times.

The 6-9 native of Oakland, Maine ranked third in the conference in scoring at 18.0 points-per-game. He was also among the OVC’s leaders in rebounding (11th / 6.7 rebounds-per-game), field goal percentage (ninth / 52.8%), free throw percentage (sixth / 83.9%), three-point field goal percentage (second / 44.6%) and blocks (fourth / 1.5 blocks-per-game).

He is the only player to rank in the top 10 in the OVC in all three shooting percentage categories this season.

Mayo opened 2017-18 with 25 points and 12 rebounds in a road win at Rice, and he never looked back. He posted another double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) at Ole Miss three days later. He notched his third double-double of the season in an overtime win against Jacksonville on December 2, scoring 22 points to go along with 12 rebounds, six blocks and three assists.

Mayo closed the season on a rampage. He averaged 23.3 points-per-game over EKU’s final nine games of the year, including a career-best 36-point performance against UT Martin on February 1. He knocked down a career-high seven three-pointers in that game.

Mayo averaged 18.7 points-per-game during conference play and was voted OVC Player of the Week twice during the season.

He also reached several career milestones during the 2017-18 campaign. Mayo climbed to No. 8 on EKU’s all-time scoring list (1,582 points) and he will enter his senior season on pace to become the school’s all-time leading scorer.

He is one of only six Colonels ever to record 1,500 points and 500 rebounds in a career.

Mayo also broke EKU’s career blocks record this season (122).

Murray State’s Jonathan Stark was voted OVC Player of the Year, Tennessee State’s Christian Mekowulu was OVC Defensive Player of the Year, Murray State’s Ja Morant was OVC Freshman of the Year and Austin Peay’s Matt Figger was named OVC Coach of the Year.
