In a season-opening high school football showdown between old rivals, host Bell County stopped Middlesboro 42-21 Friday night, Aug. 18.

Bell County coach Dudley Hilton's Bobcats will host again, facing Letcher County Central Friday night, Aug. 25. Letcher dropped to Knox Central 27-20 this past Friday night.

Middlesboro coach Zach Massengill's Yellow Jackets will travel to New Tazewell, Tenn., for a Friday night date with Claiborne, which lost 35-0 at Oneida High School.
