Legends' DeVito Promoted; Former Cat Dudek Joins Lexington Team; Ex-Wildcat Beggs To Face Legend

Lexington Legends first baseman Chris DeVito -- who is leading the South Atlantic League in home runs with 11, runs batted in with 38, and hits with 42 -- has been promoted to Advanced Class A Wilmington, the Kansas City Royals' affiliate in the Carolina League, it was announced by the Legends Thursday, May 11.

DeVito is fifth in the league in batting average at .347.

DeVito will be replaced on the roster by first baseman Joe Dudek, who was at the University of Kentucky for the 2016 season, which he sat out after transferring from North Carolina the previous year.

Dudek signed with the Royals as a non-drafted free agent July 28, 2016. He was assigned to Burlington of the Appalachian League, where he hit .346 with six homers and 29 runs batted in in 30 games.

He joins the Legends from extended spring training.

The Legends play the Greensboro Grasshoppers tonight (Thursday) and Friday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Game time is 7:05 p.m. each night.

Friday night's Greensboro starter is righthander Dustin Beggs, who pitched for UK in 2015 and 2016. He was 9-2 in 2016, including a 5-2 mark against SEC competition. He was selected by Miami in the 16th round of the June 2016 first-year player draft.
