EKU Punter Chosen Preseason All-American

RICHMOND, Ky. -- Eastern Kentucky University punter Keith Wrzuszczak was selected to the STATS Preseason All-America second team, the organization announced Monday, Aug. 1.

Wrzuszczak was chosen to the Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team in July.

Wrzuszczak (pronounced ROO-sack), is a 5-foot-11, 194-pound junior. The Geelong, Australia native was a first team All-OVC selection last season. He broke Jordan Berry’s EKU single season punting record, finishing with an average of 43.7 yards per punt. He ranked second in the OVC and ninth in the nation in punting average.

Wrzuszczak was a two-time OVC Specialist of the Week -- on Oct. 18 after averaging 45.5 yards per punt at Southeast Missouri and on Nov. 1 after averaging 50.2 yards per punt with six punts of 50 or more yards and six punts that pinned No. 1 Jacksonville State inside its own 20 yard line. His longest punt of the season was a 75-yarder at Jax State, three yards short of tying the Eastern record and ninth longest in the FCS during the 2015 season.

The Colonels begin the 2016 season on Sept. 3 at Purdue. Eastern’s first home game is slated for Thursday, Sept. 8.
