LMU Railsplitters Ranked No. 11 In This Week's Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball will enter the new year ranked 11th in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll, as the NABC released its final poll of 2015 on Tuesday night, Dec. 29. The top six spots in this week's poll are unchanged from the previous NABC poll released on December 15, as West Liberty was the unanimous No. 1 pick for the third consecutive week. Augustana, Western Oregon, Minnesota State-Moorhead, Cal Poly Pomona and Angelo State followed in the two through six spots.

Lincoln Memorial's next opponent, Bellarmine, will be ranked 17th in the country when the Railsplitters pay a visit to the Knights on January 2 at 3 p.m. The Railsplitters (10-1, 6-0 SAC) will enter that contest sporting a 10-game winning streak that most recently includes back-to-back 100-point explosions in wins over Wingate and Newberry. Coach Josh Schertz (pictured) and his LMU squad extended its streak of consecutive weeks ranked in the NABC/Division II poll to 79, which is the second-longest such streak in the history of the Division II rankings behind only West Liberty. The Railsplitters have now been ranked for the entirety of the last five years. Through 11 games, the Railsplitters are ranked second in the nation in scoring offense with 98.4 points per game. Lincoln Memorial is also ranked second in field goal percentage (51.9 percent), 10th in field goal percentage defense (38.7 percent) and 20th in rebounding margin (+8.3). Queens is the only other South Atlantic Conference program represented in the poll, as the 11-0 Royals are slotted at No. 10.
