Kentucky women’s basketball team has passed an early season road test with a 68-64 overtime victory over Arizona State Sunday evening in Tempe, Arizona.

But the 18th-ranked Wildcats (now 2-0) got off to a slow start with a 29-17 halftime deficit before bouncing back against No. 15 Arizona State before a crowd of 4,543 at Well Fargo Arena. Six-foot-3 forward Evelyn Akhator (pictured), a junior college transfer who picked UK over Tennessee, Texas and Florida State, led the squad in rebounding for the second straight game with game-high 10 caroms.

Freshman starter Maci Morris, a former star at Bell County High School, had five points, including one three-pointer, along with 2 assists and one steal in 19 minutes.

The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday night, Nov. 18, when they host Morehead State at Memorial Coliseum. The 7 p.m. game is available for viewing online via SEC Network Plus.
