LEXINGTON, Ky. -- University of Kentucky women’s basketball freshman guard Morgan Rich (pictured) has elected to transfer from the team, head coach Matthew Mitchell announced Tuesday, Nov. 3.
“Morgan Rich will transfer from our program,” Mitchell said. “We appreciate Morgan’s work while she was part of our program and wish her nothing but continued success.”
Rich, who averaged 20 points and 7.1 rebounds at Allen County-Scottsville High School last season, was ranked No. 30 guard by espnW and No. 83 overall player by All-Star Girls Report. The 5-10 guard had chosen UK over Alabama, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky University, among others.
It marked the second time a Kentucky player has left the women's team in less than 10 days. Linnae Harper is also planning to transfer to another school.
Kentucky will begin its 2015-16 season on Sunday, Nov. 8 with an exhibition game vs. Union University at 5 p.m. ET in Memorial Coliseum. Admission to the game is free. The Wildcats begin regular-season play on Friday, Nov. 13 vs. Rice at 7 p.m. ET at home.
