Kentucky To Host Heroes' Day at Saturday's Game With ULM at CWS; Gymnastics Holding Halloween Costum


LEXINGTON, Ky. – UK Athletics will host Heroes’ Day this Saturday when the Kentucky football team squares off against ULM inside Commonwealth Stadium.

The event is designed to honor all active, reserve and veteran members of the armed forces along with police, firefighters and first responders. Game time is set for noon ET.

Among the tentative plans for the day is a football-field sized American flag, which will be presented by the UK Air Force ROTC and UK Army ROTC, recognition of personnel throughout the game and military VIPs in attendance.

UK Athletics will welcome Heather French Henry, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, to CWS on Saturday, who will lead a recognition of Vietnam Veterans, tentatively scheduled for the first quarter.

Individual tickets may be obtained on game day with the presentation of a service ID at the ticket booth outside Gate 4, while supplies last.

Lextran Keeneland-CWS Shuttles to Run Again Saturday, Oct. 11

For the second consecutive week, fans will have the chance to enjoy both a college football atmosphere and the Keeneland racing tradition without having to move their vehicles as Lextran will be offering a shuttle bus to and from Commonwealth Stadium and Keeneland for fans for $1 each way.

Fans with or without reserved parking permits at Commonwealth Stadium can take advantage of the shuttles. Fans with reserved parking permits at Commonwealth Stadium for Saturday’s game are encouraged to park in their respective lots (permit parking map), while fans without reserved parking spots should park in non-permit parking locations (non-permit parking map).

All football game-day parking and permit policies will be enforced.The stadium pickup point will be at the intersection of University Drive and Cooper Drive. The first shuttle from University and Cooper will depart at 11:45 a.m. ET and the first shuttle from Keeneland will depart at 12:25 p.m. The shuttle will run continuously with stops every 20 minutes (schedule subject to traffic) until the final stadium pickup at 6:05 p.m. and the final Keeneland pickup at 6:45 p.m.

A key fact for fans to remember is that your vehicle should be originally parked at the site which you intend to finish your day.

The shuttle will be in operation for all three home games in October and the schedule will be the same, regardless of kickoff time.

UK Gymnastics Holding Halloween Costume Drive Saturday

The UK gymnastics team will hold a Halloween costume drive to benefit underprivileged children in the Lexington area on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium.

The team will college costumes at the game from 9:30 a.m. ET to 11:45 a.m. ET at Guest Services desks outsides gates 1 and 9.

The team will also collect costumes during the UK women’s soccer match vs. South Carolina on Oct. 10 at the Bell Soccer Complex and the volleyball team’s contest vs. LSU on Oct. 19 at Memorial Coliseum. Costumes can also be donated at the Joe Craft Center at the Welcome Center in the main lobby from Oct. 13-17 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
