Go Big Blue!

Welcome Message from the Editor

Welcome to the new KySportsStyle360.com. It is a unique Web site about sports, business & stuff, covering mostly about the Wildcats in Lexington.

Over the years, as a credentialed sports columnist in Kentucky, I have had tons of stuff on UK sports that I couldn't use due to newspapers' space limitations. So, here you go, a new Web site that will carry some of the extra stuff. Hope you'll like it. Please give us some time to improve and grow. We have a business model or format that we are going to follow. It will take us awhile to become an established outlet, perhaps one or two years or even longer. Patience is the key to success.

Now, let me briefly introduce the Blue-and-Gold Web site. When you open the site, you will first see a gallery of pictures or images on the left, headlining the main or home page. During the school season, we plan to post fresh pictures frequently and many of them will be on UK football and basketball. But during the "slow" summer season, you may find photos of baseball or even a political event. This time we are presenting the colorful images of the beautiful 2014 Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival, which was held recently in Pineville. One of the pictures includes Somerset's Hannah Elizabeth Isaacs, who was named the new festival queen.

And you'll notice a list of columns or blogs by various individuals as well as other write-ups about UK, EKU, the Cincinnati Reds and the Atlanta Braves. In addition to my UK-oriented blog, we have an impressive list of columnists who have agreed to write a blog for this new Web site.

Joe Cox is an author of several UK-related books, including "Fightin' Words: Kentucky vs. Louisville" (Sports Publishing and co-written with Ryan Clark). He really knows sports. Call him an expert. An attorney in western Kentucky, he will be rambling about everything in the sporting world.

Dr. Vic Adams? Recognize the name? If you are a Wildcat fan, I'm sure you have heard of him. He was a standout for the UK football teams in the late 1980s. During the 2014 football season, watch for his insightful blogs about his UK weekend/game experience, career highlights and highly-respected coach Jerry Claiborne, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. A very personable guy, Dr. Adams is currently a high-ranking college administrator in Kentucky.

Another columnist is Dr. Duane Bolin, a history professor at Murray State University. He primarily will write about sports history (but may also write occasional political history) in Kentucky. Dr. Bolin has a forthcoming biography about legendary Adolph Rupp and it's a book that we can hardly wait for. Among his other books or publications, Dr. Bolin has written "Bossism and Reform in a Southern City: Lexington 1880-1940" (University Press of Kentucky). He also has two degrees from UK where he received his masters and PhD.

In the next several months, we to plan to add a couple of bloggers.

Also helping us is Wayne Mason, a contributing photographer from Kentucky. He will submit photos every now and then. We plan to add another photographer.

As you'll notice, we also have "live" tweets about UK sports from other individuals as well as updates in business, sports and technology to go along with book reviews/tidbits and sports pictures.

Needless to say, it's very exciting time for us. We are not perfect and we certainly plan to make improvements on the Web site in the coming months or years. If you have any helpful suggestions, please let us know by using the "Contact" menu at the top of the page.

We hope you'll come back and visit us again. Don't forget to bookmark "KySportsStyle360.com" and please spread the word. By the way, for optimal or best viewing of this Web site, you may want to use a desktop computer or perhaps a tablet.

Stay cool during the hot summer months and have a great summer, too!
