Lexington Legends Begin Seven-Game Homestand Thursday Night
UPDATE: Thursday night’s game between the Lexington Legends and the Charleston RiverDogs at Whitaker Bank Ballpark has been rained out. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader Friday. The first of two seven-inning games will begin at 5:05 p.m. Friday.
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Lexington Legends return home for seven games at Whitaker Bank Ballpark beginning Thursday night, May 12, and the homestand will include the kickoff of the Lexington’s annual Craft Beer Week, Bark in the Park, a Kids Eat and Play Free night and more.

The 13-19 Legends, Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will take on the South Atlantic League Southern Division leaders, the Charleston RiverDogs, an affiliate of the New York Yankees, Thursday through Sunday. The Hickory Crawdads, an affiliate of the Texas Rangers and the first-place team in the Northern Division, will play the Legends Monday night, Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Pictured is one of Lexington's pitching standouts, Emilio Ogando, who is expected to pitch during the current homestead. Ogando has appeared in seven games, including three as a starter. He is 3-2 with 3.48 ERA. Ogando is a 12th-round pick in the 2014 first-year player draft.
The complete schedule: Thursday, May 12: Legends vs. Charleston, 7:05 p.m. It’s a Kentucky Ale Thirsty Thursday, and beer and Pepsi products will be on sale for one dollar each. And every Thursday is a Pepsi Bark in the Park Night. Fans can bring their dogs to the game, and a two-dollar donation at the gate for each dog will benefit the Scott County Humane Society. Friday, May 13: Legends vs. Charleston, 7:05 p.m. The Legends are also serving as host for Lexington’s Craft Beer Week Kickoff, highlighting beers from the Lexington area. All fans over 21 are welcome to sample the beers, but a special package is available for $15.00 that includes a box seat ticket and two drink vouchers. Friday night will also include a giveaway of a Legends slap bracelet designed by students at William Wells Brown Elementary School of Lexington. The slap bracelet was the winning item in a “Stache Tank” competition held in January, when teams of students made presentations to community leaders and Legends officials. The first 1,000 fans entering the gates will receive a slap bracelet.
Saturday, May 14: Legends vs. Charleston, 6:35 p.m. A fireworks show will follow the game. Sunday, May 15: Legends vs. Charleston, 2:05 p.m. It’s a JIF Kids Club Sunday. Kids Club members receive free admission to the game. All kids may run the bases after the game. Membership in the Kids Club is free. Legends players will be available to sign autographs after the game for Kids Club members and their parents. Monday, May 16: Legends vs. Hickory, 7:05 p.m. Kids 12 and under “Eat ‘n’ Play” for free. A voucher for a meal will be given to kids age 12 and under as they enter the ballpark, and they will also be admitted free of charge to the Aetna Play Area down the third base side. Tuesday, May 17: Legends vs. Hickory, 7:05 p.m. Hot dogs will sell for only 25 cents each at all Tuesday home games. Wednesday, May 18: Legends vs. Hickory, 10:05 a.m. Wednesday’s game is the second of three Education Days. Fans can enjoy Hunt Brothers Pizza at half price.
